Best medication
Q: I have a 15 year old mixed breed of dog who has had three operations on his hind legs due to injuries and has been diagnosed with herniated discs in his lower back. at the present time i give him deramaxx, however, i would like to give him joint care meds too. what would be the best medicine i can give him to help him? he is getting continually worse and has a very hard time getting up and walking. if not joint meds, then what? i do not want him to suffer but he has been with me many years and i want him to enjoy life.
A: Our clients report excellent results using super joint enhancer #10496 which aids in the rebuilding and moisturizing affected joints. follow the package dosing recommendations for best results.

Constapation in cat
Q: My 13 year old cat has always had problems with constapation and is getting worse. he has few teeth and is a very picky eater. untill 2 years ago he ate dry science diet.(he keep vomiting it up whole). i now grind up cooked lamb and pork loin for him.he eats very small portions at a time.(every 2 to 3 hours) is there something i could put in his food to help?
A: You could try some cod liver oil at 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon daily as well as adding a teaspoon or two of canned pumpkin daily to his diet which can be source of fiber to help with bowels. if problem persists, see your vet as some need prescription meds for constipation

Changing brands????
Q: Dear pet meds, i have 3 indoor cats that i have always used advantage on. i was thinking about changing to the frontline plus. do you think this would be alright? my cats are 12, 7 & 7. i have noticed that there are little brown "things" where they have been laying. my cats seem to scratch more and i would like to ease their discomfort. thank you for any help that you can give me. karen joyner-hilliard p.s. they all weigh over 9 pounds.
A: I can tell you it is certainly worth a trial. i use frontline plus on my cats, and living in south florida i consider that a good indication. if you continue to find evidence on the ground you should check with your veterinarian.

My cat is not acting himself in past 3 days
Q: My 8 year old cat thew up his hard cat food on monday. we fed him canned soft food on tuesday and he's eaten it and not thrown up it up but he is beginning to throw up a little white spittle. wednesday he's still eating fine and he is drinking water and peeing, but we believe he may be constipated or have a hair ball lodged. tonight we went to target to buy hartz salmon flavoured hairball remedy and he's taken to it, but still no using the number 2. he's sometimes lethargic and at other times playful as usual. what do you recommend? should i give him a little milk in addition to the hair ball remedy?
A: Only thing i would try over the counter would be a few teaspoons of canned pumpkin added to his food daily or you could also try 1/2 to 1 teaspoon olive oil daily as well. if no help need vet visit, and possible enema if needed and stronger meds
Shedding
Q: I have an 11 month old female rat terrier, she is a house dog, she has been shedding all over the house excessively for the past 2 months could this be due to the changing weather or should i take to her vet to be checked out?
A: Excess shedding can be do tochanges in season or weather or possibly some allergies or digestive issues on occasion. i would consider supplementing her with digestive enzymes like prozyme from 1800petmeds, flax seed oil 1 tea per 20 pounds of body weight daily as well as lecithin granules and kelp from health food store, all of which can help shedding. if persists for more thana month or two take to your vet
